My name is Annamarie Carlson. In the spring of 2015 I was in the fifth and final year of my undergraduate career at Northern Arizona University studying literature, creative writing, performance art, and Japanese and wondering just what the hell I was going to do after graduation. Now I’m living and working in Japan and seeing where life takes me.

I am in Shizuoka prefecture as an ALT for the JET Program. So far it has been an incredibly meaningful experience, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

This blog is for me to document my time in Japan and beyond, but also to work through everything it means to be a young adult outside of school for the first time. I’m 24, and I think this adventure is only the beginning.

My graduation cap and words I can’t forget.

I come from the beautiful state of Arizona, though I grew up in equally beautiful Northern California.

When the Grand Canyon is only an hour away you get kind of spoiled.

I don’t know what happens from here, but as long as I can write about it I think I’ll be alright.
